Hello Ames! Everything going alright with you? How’re your parents?
So I’ve spent the first couple weeks of the holiday moping around like a miserable bitch after a bad break-up but you know what, it’s a waste of time. He’s not worth it so I’m getting over him. First stop on the ‘get-over-Cadmus’ regime is a trip to Morocco with Karoonda (and unfortunately my cousin due to Mum not trusting me to not do something stupid) where the sun and hot boys are. You’re coming to, I won’t take no for an answer.
On another note, my Mum’s got the rest of this week off and she keeps talking about you and wondering when she’s next going to see you (properly, that is; she doesn’t think ‘briefly before going abroad’ counts as seeing you properly and I think that makes sense). The flowers have also made a new song and you’ve got an entire verse dedicated to you. I was impressed. Even the Cactus got in on the song and banged his stumpy hands against the side of his pot.
Anyway, hopefully you’ll get this letter soon.
P.S. Karoonda’s gone brunette, we need to find another blonde for the trio.
The start of summer has been if anything depressing. Once I returned home, I was put straight to work on my mother’s garden. She’s started a new job that requires her to work horrible hours, causing all of her flowers to wilt. Then there was the visit to my Aunt’s grave. I think I spent several hours talking to her headstone. I’m pretty sure she heard me though.
You, going to Egypt without me? Yeah right. I’ve got plenty of money saved up. The hot sun is welcome but I’m not so sure how Car would feel about the boys.
Your best friend, forever and always,
P.S. What is the blasphemy!! She must be punished
-can’t help but smile at the recollection. the smile soon fades though- You and me, Ames, you and me until the end. -wipes her face and flops backwards, closing her eyes.- I’m never going to let myself fall in love again.
-let’s out a long sigh before laying down next to her and taking her hand into her own- You can’t do that Glenda. Besides, you can’t really help who you fall in love with, and you shouldn’t try and deny it either…it did that far too long with Caradoc and I wasted so much time.I know you aren’t his biggest fan, but, you’ve seen what can happen when you try to fight something like that.
-grimaces at the mention of Rabastan, recalling their last encounter. recoils and rests her head in her hands- I wish I could just…turn back time and say no to him before it started. Why do I always have to fall for the ones that won’t ever go anywhere?
-laughs dryly before pulling away a bit to look at her- Must I remind you of myself a certain Sytherin named Rodolphus? I’m pretty sure I can relate Glen
-leans into the embrace, resting her head on Ames’ shoulder. forces the tears down long enough to speak- I mean, I know that it’d have to stop some day, but n-not yet, not so bloody soon! Why would he not have the courage to say it face-to-face?
-she rubs her shouder reassuringly, and places a kiss to the top of her head- I don’t know, I mean, his sister is already set to marry Rabastan. I suppose they don’t want to wait, but…I know that doesn’t make it feel any better.
-is startled when she hears someone enter the room. she looks up through running eyes and upon seeing Ames, feels another bout of tears burst from her eyes- H-he’s…he got engaged, Ames. H-he didn’t even have the decency to t-tell me to my face! -pushes the letter away and falls backward, her tears coming out in choked sobs-
-Ames picks up the letter and frowns when she sees the tears marks. Reading it quickly she feels her anger and sadness for her friend come at once- Oh Glenda -sits next to her on the bed and wraps an arm around her-
-after bumping into James in the corridor, Glenda makes her way back to the basement, still cheerful. as she enters the common room, a younger student approaches her and tells her she has a letter on her bed. half expecting it to be from her mother, Glenda chuckles and heads up to read it. by the handwriting, she notes that it’s not her mother. she sits on her bed and starts to read, confusion washing over her as she reads the words ‘arranged’ and ‘marriage’ and realises it’s Cadmus’s handwriting.-
Merlin… -lets out a choked breath, not quite knowing what to say. after a moment of not knowing what to do, she promptly bursts into tears, her teardrops splashing onto the inked writing below her and smudging parts of the letter-
-Ames cheerfully makes her way from the dining hall after a tiny snog session with Caradoc. She whistling when she enters the common room and heads straight to the room when she can hear crying. Knowing straight away that it’s Glenda, she rushes in- Glen? What happened?
